IS MUAY THAI FOR ME

Will I bulk up?

Everyone has a different body type and fall into one of three categories. The Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph. It is because of the category that you fall in that Muay Thai can offer different results. The Ectomorph that is small in stature thin, may look for putting on some muscle mass, the Mesoporph that has an athletic shape body maybe interested in toning and increasing their cardiovascular capabilities, the Endomorph which is of a heavier set body type will look to for weight loss and conditioning.

Does Muay Thai get you fit?

Absolutely. When participating in Muay Thai, you will use sport specific exercises that target virtually every part of your body. There is a great balance between cardiovascular and resistant training exercises. The Muay Thai workout is considered by many to be one of the most rigorous exercise programs in the world.

Will I Get Hurt?

While Muay Thai is a physical/ combative sport, no one should be getting injured while training. Our team of highly qualified instructors ensure that they run safe classes where the chance of injury is very minimal. If you follow instructions well Muay Thai will help with preventing injury and in most cases healing old ones. Although Muay Thai is a fighting Art there are less injuries then in most contact sports. Because the workout targets the full body, you will feel muscle pain and this is normal. Whenever you perform movements that the body is not used to, you will always develop “workout pain” but there is an old cliché that says: “no pain no gain”.

Do I need to compete/ spar?

Not At All! Competition and sparring is completely optional and students are never pushed into it against their will. Only about 5% of our students compete and therefore the other 95% are here to have fun, get fit, and learn some self defense.

Do I have to be a fighter to join?

No, you don’t have to be a fighter to be involved in Muay Thai. Muay Thai although considered a fighting art is used in fitness and self defense regimes all over the world. Many people get involved in Muay Thai to get fit and learn self defense. It is practiced all over the world with few taking it to a competitive level. 95 % of our student base have no interest in competing in a ring, in fact, most of our members have never been involved in any martial arts prior to joining.

I Have Never Done Any Martial Arts. Can I Do Muay Thai?

Yes you certainly can. Most of our members have never been involved in any martial arts prior to joining. There is an old saying which says that a blank sleight is the best to work with!

Do both females and males train at the school?

Yes Lanna is proud to have a large amount of female students. We try to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable regardless of the sex, race, culture, or creed. We are very proud to have approximately 25% of our membership females (something which is hard to find in the Martial Arts world)
